  • I can't believe people are bothered by the pie gun physics. THAT'S THE JOKE. You see the normal-looking gun and expect a bullet. Instead, it's a whole big pie. If the gun actually looked like it could fire a pie, the comic would not be funny at all.
  • First!
    Also, lol.
  • Lulz.
  • All aboard the fail train. Conductor, you.
  • Haha
how did the pie come out of the barrel though?
  • Crust first, then the cream filler, with the pie tin bringing up the rear.
  • Interesting, proper hand position on the sniper. :P
  • I don't draw amateur sniper clowns.
  • "Serious Leadership." Simply perfect.
  • Hahahah!
Great art! Love how the clown hair looks.
  • Reminds me of that Perry Bible comic with the mimes.
  • the gun came on him
  • Clown democracy. Serious business.
  • I think this vertical thing is working pretty well so far. The timing on these last few has been pretty excellent.
  • Thanks. Yeah, it feels right, working this way. I feel quite a bit more free to develop my art style with these bigger panels.
  • awesome! good. more of everything and make it all bigger. nom nom nom nom nom.
  • Nice. The pie gag itself was used in the very spirit of the origin of the pie-gag. (Where the routine seemed to go in one direction, often intellectual in nature, but resorts instead to a sight-gag.) If Benny Hill were still alive, he'd have gotten a chuckle out of this comic.
  • Hey Bongo's leadership.
    Why so serious?
  • I'm sorry. It had to be done.
  • Brilliant.
  • The rifle was just used for its scope, in order to get the proper aim.
  • Why so serious?
  • Really well put together gag.

The title really states what is going on. It looks like the clown decided to go from his former silliness to a serious career in politics, but gets a pie in the face, probably ruining his political career by making it look like he willingly participated in a pie gag. Character assasination complete.

Also, this really plays to the nature of the pie gag. If you watch the three stooges, the target of the pie is often aristocratic, important, or otherwise inflated. Look up stooges pie fight on youtube. One senator (important), several aristocratic types, and one guy with a giant ego. Krusty the Clown said it best "The pie gag's only funny when the saps got dignity" The only thing missing is a setup line like "Wait, don't throw that pie..." *holds out hand* "Now let me have it!"

By the way, was this at all inspired by the assasination scene in death to smoochy? The sniper and the lighting give that impression.
  • Talk about overanalysing something.
  • I have a mild suspicion that this person is trying to be funny by being brutally deadpan sardonic. Note how he explains widely familiar concepts like the pie gag at great length. Note also the suggestion of adding a tired wordplay. The last paragraph kind of ruins the effect, though. Usually you only want to feign ignorance in cases where the answer is obvious, and here it is not because it could be an homage to a number of things. Of course this last part could be intended to mask the nastiness of the deconstruction (totally unnecessary) or divert the attention of anyone trying to counter-analyze.
  • looks like Nicolas Sarkozy :P
  • For a split second, the clown reminded me of John C. Reilly when he sang Mr. Cellophane in Chicago.
  • This reminds me of the Manchurian Candidate. If that's what you were going for, you did an excellent job.
  • I like the set up and the joke, your usual impressive quality, but I guess I'm a bit leery of Presidential Assassination jokes at this point. I'm probably just too paranoid. Keep up the good work!
  • I understand where you're coming from all too well. Actually, a pretty considerable amount of thought went into other possible pie sniper scenarios. Nothing seemed as funny as the presidential setup, though, so the effort was made to avoid visual cues that would too closely link the comic to current political events.
  • The Manchurian Candidate references really help keep it generic, glad to know you put a lot of thought into it!
  • It's a question of scale. the pie really did come out of the barrel. It's just that the sniper clown is astoundingly large.
  • What happen was that the pie was super condensed to the size and shape of a sniper bullet. When the pie was fired the capsule surrounding it broke apart and so the pie expanded to its original size.
  • Or, 'TSAFRIGGIN JOKE!
  • or I am just that sad that I have to come up with an explanation to what I just described...
  • Take the Perry Bible Fellowship comic with the mimes, use clowns instead, and TADA! You've got this comic.
  • Is there going to be one of you folks who say that every comic and cannot enjoy something at all? I mean, don't you think it has gotten old yet?
  • Love it. I would never vote for a clown.
  • So, you haven't voted for any politicians at all?
    *rimshot, pie in my face*
  • As someone before me said, this comic greatly resembles the mime assassination PBF comic.

However, I can't see how that would be a BAD thing. After all, the main reason why I started reading this comic was because it reminded me of PBF.
  • I agree with you 100%
  • Looks like he's going to have to CHANGE his suit.
  • My take on it? Clown in the middle panel is sad-looking and revenge-filled. As you can see from the fact the sniper rifle crosshair is directly over his upper left thorax (I won't say heart otherwise I'll get flamed because the heart is further down and more central...). However the pie comes directly from the left when it is implied that the sniper is in front. If Presidential candidate Bongo has turned, this is not shown in the last panel. Ergo, the pie has in fact saved Bongos' life... As his sideways movement upon impact would have moved him enough for a bullet shot not to be fatal. Shoulder or arm wound maybe...

Either way I chuckled when I saw this. I almost always do. Some comics I enjoy more than others but to each their own.
  • look at the position of the podium on the first panel. the crosshair is pointing from the right direction.
  • Lol "Serious Leadership." The presidential clown looks suspiciously like NIxon..."I am not a crook, I am a clown!"
  • I want a sniper rifle that fires pies :D
  • err... is it just me or does the sniper clown look like obama and the president clown look like mccain (especially in the third frame).
  • It's certainly just you... they look nothing alike.
  • Hehe, why so serious?
  • The clown couldn't be McCain... Too much arm mobility.
  • It looks more to me like Cookie is assassinating Bozo the Clown
  • i think ill go for a blackberry pie when i get assassinated.
  • I'm liking the whole circus tent ambiance.
  • ats fckin hilerious!!!!!!!!
  • Not to complain, but wouldn't the barrel of his gun have to be a bit bigger?
  • It works like a clown car.
  • It's a hollow point pie, designed to expand on impact.
  • how did the pie come out of the gun? this is gay and dumb
  • ooh :D joo smawt gai!! i woan be liek joo wen i growz old :D

no seriously, if you think it's THAT bad, why even bother commenting? it's not like someone will actually do something with a comment like that -_-
  • Wow... seriously?

    It's a freaking comic.
  • TROLL'D
