HAH! Nice to not have to look up wikipedia for any archaic references this time.
unless i'm missing something...AGAIN. On a different topic, can you imagine the leg strength required to hold the horse through that leap? ;)

    momentum hawkins, momentum.

Silly, yet totally awesome. Why is it that so many totally awesome things are also incredibly silly? This comic taps into such primal mysteries at the heart of the universe.

...and/or centripetal force and/or superglue. Good fun.
  • Gal · 1 year ago
Dan, the horse's momentum is forward, and the lance doesn't put any force on it, only on the rider. It has to be superglue.

Although, if you've seen "Mulan" you know that it's possible to carry a horse up the side of a mountain while gripping it with you're thighs, so you never know.

    This seems highly improbable.

Photoshop. This is totally photoshopped. No way he really pole vaulted over that. See, you can tell from the lighting.

This photoshop trolling is getting old fast.

    Hilarious comic.

Very simple, yet hilarious comic. I love it.
Especially the horse's expression at the end.

you win this round gal and hawkins, but mark my words, i will be back with my uninformed opinions and reckless criticism to give you smarty pants something new to correct me on! ha!

  • Jaco · 1 year ago
Not as good as other TBK's
  • Charlie · 1 year ago
I wish the last panel had a shot of the serene sky with a bitty silhouette of the rider and horse separated in it and flying through the air.
  • sheoftheunoriginalname · 1 year ago
Not superglue - you'd want to use an epoxy resin for that kind of lift.
  • nidoking · 1 year ago
now i know how horses cheat! ROFLMAO!
  • Steve · 1 year ago
Am I missing something? I always read this comic, take the joke at face value, then read the comments and realise I've missed some subtle pop-culture reference. Is this really just a jouster on a horse doing pole-vaulting?
  • anonymous · 1 year ago
@Steve: "Kind of a light-weight comic this week. Thought folks could use a break from last week’s reference laden fare."
  • TychoCelchuuu · 1 year ago
I like how the horse's hoof goes out of the panel.

I've actually seen live motorcycle pole-vaulting on tv once, it was somewhat similar in scope to this.
